317L stainless steel can resist the corrosion of sulfuric acid solution better than conventional chromium nickel stainless steel. The corrosion resistance of the alloy increases with the increase of the composition of gold and molybdenum. These alloys can withstand sulfuric acid at concentrations up to 5% in environments up to 120 ° f (49 ° C). These alloys have excellent corrosion resistance at temperatures below 100 ° f (38 ° C) and can resist the corrosion of higher concentration solutions.
